Netflix comes to India with plans starting at Rs 500/month

Netflix launched operations in India on Wednesday, with plans starting at Rs 500 per month, as the US-based video streaming company pushes ahead with its global expansion plans. The move confirmed months of speculation on the launch of the service in the second-most populous country in the world.

 

The company will also offer two other plans priced at Rs 650 and Rs 800, it announced on its website. Netflix is offering the first month of access free for users in India.

Netflix is the world’s leading Internet television network with over 70 million members in over 190 countries enjoying more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films. Its plans for 2016 include releasing 31 new and returning original series, two dozen original feature films and documentaries, a wide range of stand-up comedy specials and 30 original kids series; all of which will be available to everyone everywhere in the world at the same time.

Users can access Netflix through an app on a smart TV, a videogame console, a streaming player, a smartphone or a tablet.
