According to a new report, the launch of the iPhone 15 series is a little more than a month away. Supposedly occurring on a Tuesday this time around, the launch event is also rumoured to host the introductions of Apple’s next smartwatches. Photos of the USB Type-C ports for this year’s iPhones have also leaked online, revealing a few differences between the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Mark Gurman has shed some light on the state of Apple’s next hardware launch event. According to the renowned analyst, Apple appears to be moving towards hosting the event on September 12, a day earlier than other rumours suggest. While Gurman included the caveat that ‘things can still theoretically change’, he informed his Twitter followers that ‘signs are increasingly pointing’ to the event date occurring on the second Tuesday in September.
In other words, the release of the iPhone 15 series will mirror equivalents for the iPhone X, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, which Apple presented on Tuesdays. Gurman adds that this year’s event will still be a hybrid one, with a pre-recorded live stream followed by a hands-on experience at the company’s campus. Currently, Apple is expected to introduce not only various iPhone 15 models, but also the Watch Series 9 and the Watch Ultra 2.
Purportedly, Apple will wait until September 22 before it begins delivering iPhone 15 pre-orders. Meanwhile, photos of the device’s USB Type-C ports have surfaced online. Reputedly of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max, it seems that the iPhone 15 may have a cheaper part than its counterparts, as earlier rumours implied. Although the authenticity of these photos has not been independently verified yet, the timing of their emergence is in line with the start of iPhone 15 mass production. Incidentally, various case designs for all models have now appeared online, which we have covered separately.
