OnePlus has announced in advance that the upcoming Ace 2 Pro will come with a new “Q9+” display from BOE. The new OLED panel is hyped to make the Android smartphone’s screen clearer, brighter and more efficient. It is also now touted to beat the iPhone 14 Pro in terms of touch-response, even when exposed to the pouring rain.
OnePlus’ final week of Ace 2 Pro launch hype now includes a full breakdown of the premium Android smartphone’s screen tech upgrades. They purport to solve a number of problems still experienced by other new devices in its market, their resistance to use as normal with wet hands included.
The OEM has revealed that its next premium mobile device will have a 1.5K 6.74-inch 120Hz display with HDR10+ support – just like its vanilla sibling. Unlike the Ace 2, however, the Pro is now slated to boast a new Q9+ “luminous material” overlay from BOE. This new component for OLED displays is touted to boost max brightness to 1,600 nits, and to come with an “optimized experience” in terms of color, clarity and vibrancy.
Not content with that alone, however, OnePlus China’s president Li Jie Louis has also hyped the Ace 2 Pro’s groundbreaking “Rain Touch Control” technology, touted to support normal screen responses with full accuracy even under “very harsh” wet-weather testing conditions, even when an iPhone 14 Pro-series device could not.
Accordingly, the Ace 2 Pro is also now backed to exhibit a “powerful” upgrade in terms of basic touchscreen responses and use-cases. The smartphone is slated to launch in China later in August 2023, and is rumored to do so as the 12R for the rest of the world thereafter.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
