On March 7, industry analysis company Canalys released its latest shipment data for TWS (true wireless stereo) headphone systems, reporting that Xiaomi retained its third place ranking in annual global shipments in 2022, selling 15.2 million units over the course of the year. However, the firm’s data for the fourth quarter of 2022 recorded Xiaomi’s shipments dropping by 49% year-on-year. Shipments across all brands were down 23% in the quarter, while TWS shipments totaled 287.7 million units for the whole of 2022, a fall of 2% year-on-year. The top five brands in global TWS shipments were Apple (91.4 million units), Samsung (25.6 million units), Xiaomi (15.2 million units), boAt (12.8 million units), and Skullcandy (9.9 million units). Oppo (including OnePlus) was the only brand that saw its Q4 numbers rise, although its 11 percent boost in global demand was ultimately not sufficient to put it in the top five for the full year.
