Tencent and Sony take stakes in Elden Ring developer FromSoftware

Sony and Tencent have invested to take minority stakes in Japanese gaming company FromSoftware, it was announced on Wednesday. The two new shareholders will take 16.25% and 14.09% of the firm, respectively. FromSoftware is responsible for developing world famous role playing titles Elden Ring and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. According to a notice released by FromSoftware’s parent company Kadokawa Group, the investment will proceed via a third-party allotment of new shares. Tencent previously acquired capital in Guangzhou Tianwen Kadokawa Animation and Comics in 2016, a subsidiary of the Kadokawa Group focused on publishing comic titles and adaptations.
