Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has been gaining significant attention in the industry due to its exceptional performance. The 4nm chipset even outperforms Apple’s current best A16 Bionic in terms of GPU power.

However, Qualcomm is not slowing down as a new report indicates that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will boast a 50% more powerful GPU than its predecessor.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to Arrive With a Major GPU Boost

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Could Sport a 50% More Powerful GPU

The leak comes courtesy of prominent tipster Digital Chat Station which revealed on Weibo that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will be equipped with a 50% more powerful GPU than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s Adreno 740.

The upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 GPU-presumably named Adreno 750-is supposed to become the new champion in the mobile GPU department if the report pans out.

Previous reports about the upcoming chip revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could sport a 1+3+2+2 core configuration, which is slightly different than the 8 Gen 2’s 1+2+2+3 split.

Going into the details, the latest chip architecture includes a Cortex-X4 core that is codenamed Hunter and is labeled as “gold+”.

Additionally, the chip includes two clusters of Cortex-A7xx cores, consisting of three “gold” and two “titanium” cores. Lastly, two Cortex-A5xx “silver” cores codenamed Hayes provides efficient processing power.

The 8 Gen 3 could also do away with support for 32-bit apps altogether. Lastly, reports suggest that the Adreno 750 GPU will be clocked at approximately 750 MHz, which is similar to the current-gen Adreno 740 featured in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

When Will Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Debut?

According to a report by Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm may unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset earlier than expected as it is already prepared with the processor ahead of schedule.

The report further suggests that smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 may hit the market as early as Q4 of this year.
