On Friday, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) published a declaration that included illustrations of the Smart #1, an electric vehicle developed by Geely and Mercedes-Benz.

Previously, the single-motor version of Smart #1 was launched with two configuration models, Pro + and Premium, and its official pre-sale price range was 190,000-230,000 yuan ($27,930 – $33,810).

The Smart #1 is the first mass production model launched after the recent electrification transformation of the Smart brand, and also the first new model launched by Smart since Geely acquired half of it from Mercedes-Benz in 2019. The car was designed by Mercedes-Benz while Smart’s R&D team led the engineering department. The vehicle is based on the architecture of the Geely SEA (sustainable experience architecture) electric vehicle platform.

The declaration information suggests this model has both an ordinary version and a performance version. The ordinary version is driven by a single motor with a maximum power of 200 kW. While the performance version adopts front and rear dual motors, in which the maximum power of the front motor is 115 kW and that of the rear motor is 200 kW.

The new vehicle also provides an optional 12V intelligent driving kit, including front-view dual cameras, front-security cameras, rear-security cameras and others.

As for the size of the vehicle, the Smart #1 measures 4270 x 1822 x 1636 mm, its wheelbase is 2750 mm, and its acceleration time from 0 to 100 km is only 6.7 s. It is equipped with a large 12.8-inch suspension central control screen with a resolution of 1920×1080.

The Smart #1 features a ternary lithium battery with a capacity of 66kWh. It takes 7.5 hours to go from 10% to 80% using a 7.2 kW AC slow charger, but the charging time can be shortened to 30 minutes by using a 150kW DC fast charger. The cruising range of the new CLTC is 535 km and 560 km respectively.
