Samsung is preparing to release the Galaxy Book3, which should join the Galaxy Book3 Pro and Galaxy Book3 Ultra at tomorrow’s Galaxy Unpacked event. In the meantime, renowned leakers have provided details about Samsung’s entry-level Galaxy Book3 series laptop, which will forgo Alder Lake-P processors and the Arc A350M discrete GPU for more efficient processors from Intel’s new Raptor Lake-U series.

The launch of the Galaxy Book3 series is imminent, with Samsung having already set expectations for new laptops to arrive on February 1 during tomorrow’s Galaxy Unpacked event. While most pre-launch attention has been paid to the Galaxy Book3 Pro and Galaxy Book3 Ultra, Samsung is also preparing to announce a cheaper model by the name of the Galaxy Book3. Samsung has not commented on the existence of the Galaxy Book3 yet, but @_snoopytech_ has leaked renders and specifications, as has WinFuture.

Confusingly, the Galaxy Book3 looks unchanged from last year’s Galaxy Book2, which combined a 15.6-inch and 16:9 display with Intel Alder Lake-P processors. As such, the upcoming laptop will not receive the 16:10 display that Samsung Display teased earlier this month. Instead, the 15.6-inch IPS panel remains, which still peaks at 1080p, 60 Hz and 300 nits. Likewise, the entry-level level Galaxy Book maintains its predecessor’s 15.4 mm thickness, although its weight drops by nearly 200 g to 1.56 kg.

The Galaxy Book3 also lacks discrete graphics options, which may explain why it is lighter than the Galaxy Book2. The latter’s Intel Arc A350M failed to impress in our tests, so it should come as no surprise to see its omission this year. Additionally, the Galaxy Book3 will be available with either the Core i3-1315U or the Core i5-1335U, which may prove less powerful than the Alder Lake-P processors that they are replacing. Reportedly, the Galaxy Book3 will cost €1,099 with a Core i5-1335U, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. In other words, expect Samsung to charge less than €1,000 for the entry-level SKU, which it will offer with the Core i3-1315U, 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD. All Galaxy Book3 configurations will come with the following ports:

  • 1x 3.5 mm jack
  • 1x HDMI
  • 1x Kensington lock slot
  • 1x MicroSD card slot
  • 2x Thunderbolt 4
  • 2x USB 3.2 Type-A
