OnePlus announces to launch its own Android ROM – OxygenOS

The OnePlus and Cyanogen deal may haven’t worked the way it was expected to be, as Cyanogen turned its back on OnePlus by signing a Country Exclusive deal with Micromax in India, prohibitting any other manufacturer from selling devices with Cyanogen branding on it. One of the reasons, which made OnePlus go for its own Android release.

And today, OnePlus did announced the name of its upcoming Android based Operating system called OxygenOS. The name for the ROM was suggested by an user in its official forum. Brandon H, who is an administrator at the OnePlus forum, made the announcement.

We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what this ROM means to us and our fans. We realized that, like everything we do, our true goal is to make the product that we ourselves would want to use—to make great technology more accessible for everyone. With our ROM, that means software that is open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features.

Not much information was provided in the post, but the company is to make major announcements about OxygenOS on February 12th, 2015.
