Mercedes-Benz’s CEO, Ola Källenius, revealed that China, the leading global auto market, will play a central role in the company’s upcoming electric vehicle (EV) campaign starting in 2025. “To do this, we must master electric propulsion just as perfectly as digitalization. That’s what our customers expect,” Källenius said. As per their strategy outlined in 2021, Mercedes-Benz plans to exclusively manufacture EVs on all new vehicle platforms from 2025 onward. The company has also evaluated models to be launched in China based on the upcoming MB.EA platform. The aim was to better align with the preferences and requirements of local customers, focusing on aspects such as space and digital content. While China holds significant importance for German automakers, local brands dominated the Chinese EV market in 2022, capturing 81% share, according to Counterpoint Research.
