BOE to provide Apple with OLED screens featuring LTPO technology: report
Written by Techbot

BOE will provide Apple with OLED screens featuring LTPO technology, Chinese media outlet China Star Market reported on Tuesday. The agreement was signed in February, and the production line will be located in Mianyang, Sichuan province, according to a few supply chain sources. LTPO, which stands for low-temperature polycrystalline oxide, is an OLED backplane technology originally developed by Apple that enables variable refresh rates. Apple previously sourced LTPO OLED for its iPhone Pro series exclusively from Samsung. Although BOE has not commented on the agreement publicly, a source at the company confirmed to China Star Market that they recently upgraded some production lines with LTPO technology in Mianyang and also in the city of Chongqing.
